This area is almost completely covered with dry stone terraces, within which smaller traditional settlements are located. The dry stone terraces were once used for cultivating vines and olives. However, as a result of their gradual abandonment, they are now overgrown with macchia, which today is the dominant feature of the surface cover. In the past, Kraj was closely linked with the surrounding settlements, as evidenced by the numerous remaining traditional paths that connected them. Some of these paths are now included in The Kraj side excursion itinerary.
