The rural landscape of Zagore comprises a narrow and elongated strip, moderately sloped, located between 200 and 300 metres above sea level and facing east. It encompasses several smaller traditional hamlets located above larger sinkholes, in which a significant amount of quality soil has accumulated. The sinkholes represent central fields around which terraced villages with agricultural terraces emerged. The remaining, marginal part of the area consists of pastures bordered by dry stone walls, the majority of which are located in the hilly hinterland and at the foot of the surrounding landscape.
