The area of the canyon of Mošćenička Draga is defined by steep slopes that fall irregularly towards the centre of the streambed, thus forming its winding route. Due to the lack of sunlight, the northern slopes of the canyon are relatively barren, covered with dense forest and crossed by numerous historical paths, while the southern slopes cover a much more cultivated landscape. The villages of Sučići and Kuk stand out, as they are almost completely surrounded by dry stone terraces. Although the terraces are largely neglected, their number indicates their past importance as well as the amount of human effort that was required to build them.
