The canyon of Mošćenička Draga is an area that abounds in water. Numerous streams flow down the steep slopes of the canyon, and at the bottom of the canyon merge into a single streambed. The streams are usually small occasional torrents that cut their beds into the steep slopes of the canyon. They are the result of the action of water over thousands of years, which is why they feature numerous geomorphological forms typical of karst watercourses. Today, water in the streambed is a rather rare phenomenon that only occurs after heavy rain or sudden snowmelts. In such cases, the water remains in some depressions within the riverbed for a long time after precipitation stops.

In addition to above-ground watercourses, underground streams are also very common. These are less noticeable but equally important.
