At this crossing of paths that lead from Mošćenice to the surrounding rural settlements, one can comprehend the significance that these historical routes once had. The small town of Mošćenice depended on its hinterland, which included rural settlements, agricultural areas and mountain pastures. The network of historical paths and steps represented the ‘circulatory system’ by which people, goods and information travelled through the area of Mošćenice. At this site, this is reflected in the quality of the construction of the historical steps as well as počivala – special places carved out of stone where people could put the load they were carrying on their backs so they could rest for a while.
