The landscape of the Rovozna Valley is a depression stretching in the direction of the Učka mountain ridge. At its centre is Rovozna Pond – the largest of its kind in the area and the most important feature. Although it looks like a natural pond, it was actually created by building a dry stone supporting wall at its eastern end. The pond is today an extremely important point in the annual migration of birds. For this reason, there is an ornithological centre nearby, in which migratory birds are seasonally ringed.
